About Us

If you are a little Aussie family who Love Camping and Traveling around Australia then keep reading because we are preparing to set foot on One Big Adventure.

Firstly a little about me and my family and what we have been up to so far this year.  My Name is Michelle and I am 30 years old.  I am a wife to Warwick 32 and a mum to my Two beautiful children Madelyn Grace 5 and Billie Cruz 3.
We live in Moura and have done for 7 years now, a small little township situated in the heart of the Dawson Valley in Central QLD about Two hours inland from Rockhampton.

Moura is primarily farming and mining.  We have a small IGA supermarket with all the essentials, a post office, servo, Library, Great School, swimming pool, Doctors, everything you need to get by.  However for the big shopping trips or appointment's we travel the Two hour trip each way to Rockhampton and spend up.  So why do we live here you ask?
Well for my little family we are here for the mining. Trying to earn a good dollar and enjoy a family friendly lifestyle.  We can't complain really.  My Husband works a roster which includes both Day Shift and Night shifts 12.5 hour shifts.  Such big days for him.  He works about 5 shifts on and then has 4-5 days off.  The days off are what we enjoy most.  That is quality time!  We wouldn't get these days off if we lived in the big City.
Warwick gets to come home after each shift so we see him everyday.  I couldn't stand living away from him and only having him home on his days off.  He was there for the kids first crawls, first steps, first Birthdays, First day of School and every special moment in between.  I would love to live on the coast  but having my family together every night...Priceless!
We live on a 52 acre hobby farm with all the Crazy little farm animals.  It is quite the funny farm at times.  We have had Sheep, Alpacas, Pigs, Chooks, Ducks, Guinea Pigs, Two cats, and Two dogs.   The kids Love it out here and adore the animals.  What more could a parent dream of bringing up their Children in the Country on a small farm with all the room you can imagine to ride motor bikes, have Bon Fires, and Water Ski  the dam on a boogie board being towed behind a Quad bike.  Just some of the Mischief we get up to out here.
2013, what can I say it has been an interesting year so far.  I knew it was going to be busy when I made the decision to start back at work in January.  I thought "How hard can it be"  Right?
I work at Moura Kindergarten as an Assistant.  Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my job and the amazing families I get to work with.  I take my hat off to the mums out there who have returned to work full- time, I don't know how you do it.  I work 3 days straight and I go a little nuts.    I stress about the time I am not spending with my own children, or the state of my house by the end of each week,  and the Six baskets of washing piled up on the lounge chair.  My husband and I often pass each other at the door as I come home and he is off to work a Night Shift.  Between us we juggle getting Maddy on the School bus, Billie to his Day-care mums and me to work by 8am.  The afternoons are much the same.  All buggered by the time we get home, but still dinner needs to be cooked, homework needs attending and bags and lunch boxes need to be packed ready for the next day.  More on our Busy life later....
We have been given an opportunity to take 9 weeks off work and Travel South Australia!  So exciting.  We love nothing more then hooking on our camper trailer and heading off locally to the nearest beach or National park to enjoy a few days camping.  We have never endeavoured on an adventure like his before and preparations are in full swing.  We leave for our Big Adventure on the 20th September and will return mid-November.
We would love for you to follow our journey the whole way and would love any advice or road trip survival tips on travelling SA with young kids.
I will update my blog with Maps, Itineraries, Trip preparations, and some everyday stories about a regular family with a big Dream and a Travel Bug.
